Last night we met up with Mario, the 'fixer' Christine was put in touch with through her work contacts. It turns out the man is a total legend and cannot be more helpful. Our biggest worry up till now has been where to find a suitable campervan for our trip and how to buy one without getting ripped off or buying a lemon. Mario has arranged to pick us up on Monday morning and take us to several second-hand dealerships where we can check out what is available. We also get his expert advice to help us choose something that won't break down straight away (he was a mechanic before working in TV). It is a real relief to have someone helping us out with such a vital part of our trip....thanks for the contact Karine.
With the campervan shopping stress removed and my weird lurgy in remission we are ready to spend the weekend enjoying Santiago properly...the plan for today: try some completos, as recommended by Tom, then party with our Airbnb hosts to celebrate their sister's birthday.
