We've arrived in Santiago! Got a shiny new stamp in my passport! We're staying in an apartment with our airbnb host Javier, in the centre of the city.
We'd been a bit worried about long queues at JFK yesterday given that we were flying on September 11th so were at the airport early. But it was hardly any trouble getting through security and we were at the gate a full 2 hours before our departure time. Sod's law meant there was heavy air traffic and our plane's inbound flight arrived late, so we didn't leave the ground until almost 2 hours after our scheduled flight time. We were only an hour late landing in Santiago though. (Stacy, I watched Love and Other Impossible Pursuits - it was rubbish. I was going to watch Hanna, but I watched the trailer and it was too intense! Dinner was chicken with potatoes and green beans and breakfast was an omelette with mushrooms.)
Paul has been ill the last couple of days. He's had flu-like symptoms but with none of the snottiness. Not sure what it could be - googling 'flu-like symptoms' is not very helpful! But his temperature was gone down thanks to paracetamol (good job Vix warned me it's called acetaminophen in the US!) He didn't have a very good flight though so we've just had a rest so far. Hoping he feels well enough to have a bit of an explore this afternoon.
