So we pulled in and asked if they could replace ours. The owner said yes, she'd order one and we could have it fitted the next day. Yay! What a relief to finally be getting this sorted. So, we left a £10 deposit and headed off.
When we returned on Saturday afternoon (having narrowly missed being scammed) one of the guys got to work removing our cracked windscreen. It was nerve-wracking seeing the cracks being made worse, but good to know that we were about to get a shiny new replacement.
However, after the windscreen was removed, we were left waiting around for a bit with no information on what was going on. When I went to inquire, it turned out that the owner had been unable to find a factory that made our windscreen and was still trying to get one. SHIT!!
When the owner finally returned, she took the removal guy to the back of the shop for an obvious telling off. And then to our horror, he came back with our even-more-shattered windscreen with no option but to put it back in!
We can't believe how hard it is to find a Fiat Ducato windscreen in Lima! The owner said she'd asked every factory, and couldn't even order one to arrive in a few weeks' time. We might have to drive around with this cracked windscreen until we get back to Chile....hope they let us across the border with it!
